People in EMT


The Therapists are highly experienced personnel.  They are music graduates with a post graduate qualification in music therapy.  The Music Therapists are responsible to the Board of Trustees of EMT.  They receive regular support and supervision, both on a day-to-day basis and at a clinical level.

Gemma Lenton Smith, Senior 1 Music Therapist

  • MA Music Therapy Research: An exploration of the effects of conjoint working between music therapists and speech and language therapists treating patients with acquired brain injury
  • Presentation at 11th World Congress of Music Therapy 2008: Structured or unstructured ‘I can make music with you!’

Rachael Hannah, Senior 2 Music Therapist 

  • MA Music Therapy – Anglia Ruskin University
  • B.Mus (Hons) (Performance Piano) Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
  • Currently working with children and young people on the autistic spectrum as well as primary school children referred for social, emotional and behavioural reasons.

Omer Plotniartz, Senior 2 Music Therapist

  • MA Music Therapy: Music, Health and Society, Nordoff- Robbins
  • BMus (Hons): (Performance Tuba), Goldsmiths College, University of London.
  • Working with children and young adults with a wide range of needs and disabilities including autistic spectrum disorder, social & communication disabilities and emotional challenges.
